  • Using the Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS), determine that the aircraft is eligible by make, model, and serial number.
  • Aircraft is properly registered and Form 8050-3 certificate of registration is with the aircraft or a fax from the FAA must be available. (Fly Wire) Note: Pink copy of temporary certificate is not acceptable.
  • If a person/agency other than the registered owner is signing the application for Airworthiness Certificate (FAA Form 8130-6), the application must be accompanied by a letter of authorization signed by the registered owner, giving that person/agency the authority to sign for the registered owner. The letter must also be notarized with a Company Letterhead if applicable.
  • Verify aircraft, engine, propeller data plates are installed and legible. (FAR §21.182, §45.11, and §45.13)
  • Aircraft must be inspected in accordance with the performance rules of the 100 Hour Inspection set forth in FAR 43 Appendix D, signed by an A&P Mechanic or FAA Certified Repair Station ( FAR §21.183, §43.11, §43.15)
  • Summary list of Airworthiness Directives for aircraft, engine, propellers, and appliances by AD Number, subject, date of compliance, and method of compliance. If AD is recurring, the time/date of the next inspection. List most current Biweekly Issue signed by an A&P Mechanic or FAA Certified Repair Station.
  • Status of Altimeter, transponder, and pitot static systems check in the past 24 months. (FAR §91.411, and §91.413) Must have test reports showing these items were tested in accordance with FAR 43 Appendix E and F by and FAA Certified Repair Station.
  • Provide status of life limited parts and Airworthiness Limitations. (FAR §43.16)
  • Provide status of calendar limited items, i.e., Hydrostatic Check of oxygen bottles, nitrogen bottles, fire extinguisher bottles, and scheduled inspections of emergency equipment.
  •  Provide aircraft equipment list. Checklist must match equipment installed on aircraft. Provide name, part number, and serial number of any accessory items that may be affected by Airworthiness Directives, i.e., Magnetos, Autopilots, Combustion Heaters, etc.
  • Provide current weight and balance report and CG data and loading schedule as required.
  • Current Pilot Handbook or Aircraft Flight Manual, as referenced in the TCDS, including any supplements required by installation of additional equipment, i.e., upgraded avionics, additional fuel tanks, upgraded engines, etc.
  • Verify that all required placards and instrument range marking are in accordance with TCDS or aircraft flight manual and Chapter 11 of Manufacture’s Maintenance Manual, which declares that installed equipment must have required TSO marking i.e., seatbelts, tires, etc.
  • Records of modifications and repairs should be reviewed for compliance to FAA approved data. If data is not FAA approved, modification or repair must either be removed or data must be FAA approved prior to certification, i.e., Supplemental Type Certificated (STC) or DER approvals with FAA Form 8110-3.
  • Verify aircraft, engine and propeller meet conformity of TCDS. All alteration and major repairs must have been in accordance with FAA approved data or aircraft must be returned to original configuration.
  • Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) is installed, operable and has a current Battery (TSO 91, FAR §91.207)
  • Registration marks have to be installed properly on aircraft at least 12 inches high, 8 inches wide, with 2 inch spacing and 2 inch wide character thickness (not 30 centimeters high.) As required by FAR §45.21 and §45.33
  • Copy of US Export Certificate of Airworthiness, FAA Form 8130-4 or proper log book entry as to when it left US registration.
  • Current compass swing within 1 year.
  • A properly filled and signed FAA Form 8130-6 Application for US Airworthiness Certificate.
  • Aircraft Identification Plate shall be fireproof and must be secured to the fuselage exterior so that it is legible to a person on the ground, must either be adjacent to aft of the rear most entrance door or on the fuselage surface near the tail surfaces. FAR §45.11
  • The identification required by FAR §45.11 shall include the following information:
    1. Builder’s name
    2. Model designation
    3. Builder’s serial number
    4. Type Certificate number if any
    5. Production Certificate if any
